As a professor who has studied and taught graduate design students for years about the architecture and interior designs, I was amazed by the incredible details that my guide Raffaele shared with me. His thorough knowledge of both the archeology AND how to navigate thru and around the cruise ship throngs was essential to my incredible experience. Using side roads and back alleys he exposed me to cool and lush gardens, which was VERY welcome in the 100* Italian summer heat, and recent findings in the dig site, and details I had not seen documented anywhere else. If you are looking to have a more intimate experience in Herculaneum and Pompeii than being with the herds, I highly recommend Grand Tour and Raffaele.

Yesterday we did the most wonderful and amazing tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum with Raffaelle and the experience was exceptional. His knowledge of the sites was extraordinary as was his ability to tailor the experience to meet our needs and to maximise the experience by strategically planning so that we avoided the throng of people who mustered at sites at particular times and were then gone. He clearly new the cadence of activity at both sites which made the whole tour truly memorable. Do yourself a favour and try to get a tour with Raffaelle, you won’t regret it.

What a wonderful day with Raffaele! If you want to see the real Napoli — the places no standard tour covers and the stories only a true Neapolitan can tell — Raffaele is the guide to choose. He shares excellent knowledge of the city’s history, archaeology, and culture, and his friendly smile made the tour a delight. A must for anyone who wants an authentic, off‑the‑beaten‑path experience.

Impeccable organization, punctuality, and communication. It was easy to interact with Melissa for the planning of our excursion and she had it all set up for us in a very short time. The driver, Salvatore, was very professional, friendly and helpful. Flavio, our outstanding guide, made it possible for us to actually visit Pompeii, and see quite a bit in the mere two hours we could allocate, since three people in our group have limited mobility. We appreciated Flavio's strategy of alternating short walks with time for us to sit down, while taking advantage of those breaks to place everything we observed into its proper historical and societal context. Flavio described the history of Pompeii and the details of everyday life in the city with such enthusiasm, that the place seemed to come alive before us. The tour was very enjoyable and we learned a lot! We will be back.

I went on the 'Pompeii Exclusive Tour with Archaeologist', conducted in English, on Tuesday 2 June. Our guide was Raffaele Romano who was brilliant and gave us a tour lasting 2 hours.The tour you conducted today was brilliant. He had chosen a very good and varied route, provided just the right amount of information, and the tour was delivered using relevant anecdotes, humour and charm. The pacing was perfect and all of the members of the tour were clearly very engaged and involved. He was very knowledgable about the site and archeology and his passion for Pompeii came across strongly. His English proficiency was excellent and the sound system with ear pieces was of such high quality that we could hear and understand everything he said. It was one of the very best tours I have been on anywhere.
