Flexible scheduling and timely communication is also a plus. I have been taking banjo/ guitar lessons from Tom for about 4 years. Tom is very attentive in the lessons. He hears every note making sure you are playing at your best. Extremely knowledgeable in music theory.

I have learned a ton since I started taking guitar lessons with Tom. He is very patient and will present info different ways to help get the info thru. He will adjust his lesson to what you want to do -just learn some songs, or a technique like tapping, or some theory. I never thought I wanted to learn theory but he brought out some jazz 101 books one lesson for us to go over. It made theory so easy and I was shocked how much my playing advanced understanding things like chord construction. By the way I took a lesson at the big chain in town before going to Tom. It was unorganized and surprisingly bureaucratic, go to someone like Tom who has teaching skills and takes pride in students progressing.
