New owner and the quality has gone downhill dramatically. They went from a company I recommend to one I'm sorry to have worked with. If you need floors polished, they're fine, but I would recommend using anyone else for showers. The owner said everything was fine. I sent him photos and he sent the same person back. They couldn't do anything about mildew, so I cleaned the grout on the floor before they sealed it. Looks like they put black marks on the white tile on the walls while scrubbing, and they didn't clean the grout. Worst part, is it seems like they're trying to do a good job, but not able to achieve it. We we used them 6 years ago we were thrilled with the results, but stay away if you want tile and grout work.
Update: The company replied saying they could not find my name in their system. The service was actually booked under my husband’s name. When we called previously to ask about the issue with the peeling caulk, we were told it would cost $150 for them to come recaulk it. Our original concern remains that the caulking began separating not long after the repair and continued to deteriorate over the following months under normal shower use. We hired this company and paid $485 for mold removal and shower resealing/re-caulking. The visible mold staining was cleaned initially and the shower looked improved at the time of service. Soon after, the caulking began peeling and separating, despite waiting a few days before using the shower. They did return once to address small sections. However, within about a month it began peeling again. Over the following 6–7 months, the sealant continued to separate and gradually deteriorate. The sealant separates under normal shower use and gentle microfiber drying, and the early separation made routine cleaning more difficult as discoloration returned. Overall, the repair did not last as long as expected and now we will need to have the shower resealed again by another professional to correct the issue.
We had such a great experience with Houston Groutsmith. They did a wonderful job with cleaning, refreshing, and resealing our two showers. Our master shower is large with lots of tiled walls, tall glass panels and door, and a rock pebble floor with lots of grout. Our guest shower is also a stand up shower with lots of tile. Craig is very kind, hard working, professional, punctual, and patient - he did an amazing job on both showers, made our rock pebble floor look like new, addressed any concerns we had, and even kindly repaired a small crack in a tile by our front door. Julie was likewise kind, prompt in communication, and patient in answering all our questions. We would highly recommend Houston Groutsmith for your tile, grout, and shower needs.
5 stars. Highly recommended. Professional, prompt and affordable. Called them, shared photos via text, received very fair quote and work handled very friendly & professionally. Best home repair vendor ever worked with.
Happened to get lucky for a quick turnaround on a fairly small job, but am happy as result. Although I cannot be sure what will happen to the job over time, the initial results are impressive. Larger cracks no longer look like a large space with caulk, but look seamless. Julie was very helpful and the fellow doing the job answered all my questions. The fellow doing the job spent more time scraping and cleaning than actually caulking. But that makes sure the caulk stays put so that was very satisfactory. When caulking, the fellow made sure the caulk ran smoothly without lumps which I particularly like since I hate lumps - hard to clean. Conclusion - I would highly recommend Houston Groutsmith
